Meet The Instructor
Dr. Wendy Marsh is board certified in Psychiatry specializing in the treatment of general and complex psychiatric disorders. Dr. Marsh’s medical interests include the treatment of mood disorders, such as depression and bipolar disorder, in both men and women as well as women’s mental health through reproductive phases.
After receiving her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Pomona College, Dr. Marsh earned her medical degree from the Wayne State University School of Medicine. She completed an internship and residency in Psychiatry at Stanford University Medical School. Dr. Marsh continued her training at this prestigious institution, completing a fellowship in Behavioral Research. She then earned a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation at the Biomedical School of Graduate Sciences, University of Massachusetts.
Currently, Dr. Marsh serves as the Director of the Bipolar Disorders Specialty Clinic and as the Medical Director of the Depression Specialty Consult Clinic. She also serves as a Perinatal Psychiatrist with the Massachusetts Child Psychiatry Access Program (MCPAP) for Moms and as a Psychiatrist in the Women’s Mental Health Clinic, the Mood Disorder Comprehensive Consultation Clinic, and in the Ambulatory Psychiatric Clinic at UMass Memorial Medical Center.
Academically, Dr. Marsh shapes the minds of the next generation of physicians at the University of Massachusetts where she works as an Associate Professor of Psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry, Graduate Faculty in Clinical and Population Health Research in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences Department and a preceptor in the UMass Tan Chingfen Graduate School of Nursing.
Dr. Marsh’s research focuses on mood disorders, reproductive phases, women’s mental health, bipolar disorder and menopause, and the connection between bipolar disorder and vitamin D levels. She has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications, is the author of 25 book chapters and has presented at lectures both locally and internationally on topics such as psychopharmacology during pregnancy, postpartum and breastfeeding, bipolar disorder, mood disorders, and medication management of various mood disorders. Additionally, Dr. Marsh acts as an Ad Hoc Reviewer for medical publications such as the Journal of Clinical Psychopharmacology, Bipolar Disorders International Journal of Psychiatry and Neurosciences, and Academic Psychiatry. She is a respected member of several professional societies including the Society of Biological Psychiatry (SOBP), National Network of Depression Centers (NNDC), and the North American Menopause Society.
