Injury Prevention
In this video, Cindy Manwaring and Brian Burns talk proactive steps you can take in your daily routines to prevent injury. Set yourself up for success by putting into practice:
- Proper posture and body mechanics
- An ergonomic work environment
- Awareness of your surroundings
- Healthy eating
- Exercise and dynamic warm-ups
- Quality sleep
Dynamic Warmup
A dynamic warm-up helps prepare the muscles for the upcoming physical activity. It improves:
- Circulation
- Range of movement
- Coordination
- Balance
- Kinesthetic awareness
Workplace Ergonomics
To create workplace ergonomics and eliminate stress on the body, start by assessing these three topics:
- Have I scanned my work environment for potential safety hazards?
- Have I checked in with my body for any signs of discomfort or strain and made necessary adjustments to my posture and equipment?
- Am I promoting a culture of teamwork and collaboration to share my workload to prevent excessive burden on myself and co-workers, fostering a healthier and more balanced work environment?
