Give a man a fish, he eats for a day.

Teach him to fish, he eats for a lifetime.

Teach him to garden and the whole workgroup gets tomatoes.  And squash.  And cucumbers.  And…

A few years ago, Empowered Health created the below video to showcase a local farmer while also trying to inspire our employees and their families to get their hands in the dirt.  One of the beautiful things about living in Alabama is that growing your own food can be as simple as dumping some dirt in a 5-gallon bucket and sticking a tomato plant in it.  So, whether you’re tilling up an acre of land, building planting boxes in your backyard or going the bucket route, having a garden can be a healthy and cost-efficient way to get more tomatoes, squash and cucumbers into your diet and… your workgroup’s diet.
